1st timers to Owenβs Lakewood Ranch. (Or any location) Yes, I know, I know, what have we been doing with our lives?! πππΌ We got 2 spots at the bar super quick and super lucky.
So appetizers were fried dill pickles π€€ and deviled eggs π₯ That extra mustard seeds on top! π€πΌπ
Dinner husband did the naked fish and got snapper π with the salsa verde he enjoyed it and I got the shrimp π€ and grits. Now Iβm a big foodie with π€/ grits and man it was its own flare. Very savory with the cooked onions and ham. And not spicy as some places are. Just DELICIOUS! Dinner came out piping hot!
Dessert π§ Good ole key lime pie was just the right tart with the good whip cream!
Service was beyond awesome with Brittany and others at the bar. Overall we WILL be back!
We ended up sitting at the bar instead of waiting for a table inside. The food was flavorful - Jambalaya was delicious! Biscuit appetizer was perfect for sharing and really tasty. Mussel cooked perfectly. Service was good at the bar. Atmosphere inside was bright and airy. Outside area was hot and stuffy, uncomfortable to sit and eat dinner- they need more cooling devices and airflow. Would definitely go back but they will need to figure out their seating so people are willing to sit outside in FL heat and then there wonβt be such a long wait.
Food was good, but overpriced and nothing special. Server and most staff were super nice. Waited 1:20 for a table, not really worth the wait. The back area is fun, but shocked by the prices for drinks especially as they are served in plastic cups.
Food was pretty solid! Be prepared to wait a little for a table, especially if you go on the weekend. Cocktails were a little on the sweeter side, so definitely ask for recommendations and how they taste!
Well, this was a wonderful surprise. We had just happened to be driving by in route to another restaurant and looked over and saw the beautiful lights on what appeared to be a new restaurant. We didn't realize what it was, and decided to take a turn, and check it out. Upon arriving, we were very impressed with the atmosphere. The place is absolutely beautiful, very big with a really nice outside area and live music.
The service and food were much better than expected. First the food ; we started with Oysters Rockefeller and they were fantastic. Being a New England native, I had to try the New England clam chowder, and after 17 years of being in Florida, I feel this is the best I've had since living here..
My wife had the Camp salad, it was ver fresh and the pickled veggies. She has some medical challenges that limit what she can eat. This can be a real hassle for some, and our server "Alexis" was absolutely professional, very helpful while patiently trying to get the chef to help meet my wife's needs.
My main course was the Spicy Jambalaya. Needless to say they didn't skimp out at all on the meat and there was more shrimp than others serve.
We finished the meal with some Georgia. Peach cobbler and my wife finished off with a drink for dessert. It was a "Mama wants S'more", which she absolutely loved.
It's nice to see such a fine establishment in Lakewood ranch.
It's a short jaunt from our home in Myakka city and worth it. We certainly will be going back. Super high regards. Certainly worth 5 stars, especially for Alexis as well.
Nice to have a great fish and seafood restaurant in Lakewood Ranch. A nice update from the Sarasota location, this fish camp has a similar menu to the original filled with fresh fish and seafood, artfully prepared and presented. Service seemed a bit rushed and the annoying no reservation policy is in place here as well, so go for dinner before 5:30 or 6:00 to avoid a long wait for a table.
Great place for sure but understand that it is not the same as the downtown Sarasota location. New venue and decorated nicely. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.
No reservations but the bar will keep you occupied with a good beverage while you wait.
Pleasantly surprised, we were hesitant to trying as some other reviews were negative. Scamp grouper was excellent and a nice size portion. My fish and chips was one huge piece with large portions of coleslaw and excellent fries. Homemade tarter sauce was very good. Excellent service.
